As I am a subscriber and reader of www.searchengineland.com and www.searchenginewatch.com, I’ve found above the fold ads on SEW.

You can see the screen shot that SEW is using above the folds.

I am not in any way discouraging SEW, but have a question in mind that Google is also using above the folds and Adsense encourage users to use ads on prominent places.

However, SEW content is visible not hidden by ads, but Google.com content is all hidden by ads! You can see search results are below the ads.

Using SEW practice is a green signal because you can see they are not hiding the content.

Similarly, SearchEngineLand content is visible and the ad above the fold is not hiding the original content.

Google algorithm have some confusions that pops-up in my mind.

Sites with too much ads will survice, but websites with top heavy ads may suffer!

It is annoying when you see too many ads on a website, but you will remain safe as long as you are using advertisements below or pop-ups or inline ads or pop-under ads.

Only websites using too many ads above the fold will be penalized.

It was just my 2 cents on latest algorithm update.
